RETIRED
EMPLOYEES OF KERN COUNTY
MINUTES OF
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
April 13, 2004
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon. Walter Stewart led the Pledge of Allegiance
and a moment of silence was held. Mitch
VanWyk brought a guest with him to the meeting. One
new member, Sue Sullivan, Superior Court was in attendance at the meeting. The table numbers were announced and they went in
order after the head table and handicapped.
President, Norman Briggs, introduced Jeanne Berkshire, Vice
President, who introduced our speaker for today. Jeanne
introduced Jennifer Peters, Executive Director for the Center for the Blind and Visually
Impaired. Jennifer spoke on a very personal
level regarding her life as a visually impaired and blind person. Jennifer was born prematurely and was visually
impaired from birth. Then 3 ½ years ago she
went to bed one night able to see and woke up the next morning totally blind. This was devastating to her, as you can imagine. Jennifer gave a very motivating talk regarding
what she had gone through being visually impaired and then what she has gone through since
becoming totally blind. It was very
interesting to listen to.

Watson from the Kern Federal Credit Union. Cathy
announced that Jan Morris would be retiring on April 16, 2004 after working 31 years at
the credit union. She also announced that

soda. The Annual Meeting will be held on May
13, 2004 in a tent in the parking lot of the credit union.

raffle prizes at the end of our meeting. All
items have the logo from the credit union on them.
