RETIRED
EMPLOYEES OF KERN COUNTY
MINUTES
OF GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
February
10, 2004
At 12:00 noon the numbers were announced
for each table. The catered lunch was enjoyed
by all in attendance. The meeting was called
to order at 12:30 p.m. Walter Stewart led
the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence was held.
There were no new members, first time attendees or guests at this meeting.
President, Norman Briggs, introduced
Cathy Olague from Kern Federal Credit Union. Cathy
had a very important announcement. The annual
meeting for the Credit Union has been moved from February 19th to May 13, 2004. Remember to mark your calendar, Thursday, May 13,
2004. There is a form being passed around
each table to be able to sign up for the meeting. At
this time it is not for certain that the annual meeting will always be held in May.
First Vice President Jeanne Berkshire
introduced our guest speaker for today. Jeanne
introduced Officer Greg Williams from the California Highway Patrol. Officer Williams showed a short video on how you
go about fixing a flat tire on our busy highways. It
was very interesting to hear that as you have a blow out you need to speed up a little. This was something that a lot of our members
couldnt really understand. The other
item that Officer Williams spoke about was the fact that everybody is in a hurry. There is about 25% of our population in Kern
County who commute to Los Angeles to work. We
are becoming a bedroom community. Our
population needs to learn to leave a little early to get where you are going without
speeding. A very interesting presentation to
say the least.
