MINUTES OF GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
May
13, 2003
The meeting was called
to order by President, David Merritt, at
12:05 P.M.
Tom McCarthy led the Pledge of
Allegiance.
A moment of silence was held.
President, David
Merritt introduced our speaker for the
meeting.
Ken Varley retired from the
Sheriff’s office and a person who David
has known for many years.
Ken spoke as if he were Teddy
Roosevelt and also came in the same type of
clothing that Teddy would have worn.
Ken does historical reenactments and
does an excellent presentation.
Doris Williams gave the
Treasurer’s Report for April 30, 2003.
Doris reported the total REOKC
membership as of April 30, 2003 was 3,096.
BUSINESS MEETING:
CRCEA – Everett
Julkowski had to leave, but if you will
check the TREND you will see a summary that
Everett put in about the CRCEA conference.
He covered the conference very well
in the TREND.
EYE GLASS – Helen
Heath reported that since last month she has
collected 5 pair of glasses, 5 eye glass
cases, 1 pair dark glasses and several loose
lens.
SUNSHINE – Elinor
Wells reported that she sent out 3 cards for
illnesses, 1 for surgery and 2 for loss of
spouse or mother.
NEWSLETTER – The
TREND is on the web site and is at the
printers.
OLD BUSINESS – We now
have the procedures for special use fund.
John DeMario put a lot of time and
thought into these procedures.
NEW BUSINESS – Jeanne
Burton requested having an assistant to help
her with the fair volunteer position.
Both Tom McCarthy and Elinor Wells
volunteered to help Jeanne.
This meeting the lucky
women received coupons for a car wash as a
Mothers Day Gift.
The attendance prize
was won by Rosa Bowser.
There were 15 - $5.00
door prizes, 4 Piggybanks with $5.00 in each
plus a calculator as a set donated by Kern
Federal Credit Union.
After the distribution of prizes, the
meeting was adjourned at 1:10 P.M.
